After his dramatic "cleansing of the temple," Jesus and his disciples return the next day to be confronted by the chief priests, scribes, and elders, who ask him the necessary questions about how he was authorized to do such things. While he did not answer them directly at that moment, the implications of the question he asked them in response also speaks to us today--not as opponents to Jesus, but as ones contemplating what it means to say that Jesus's ministry had a divine origin.
