EASTER 2 - Leviticus 5:14-6:7; Psalm 32; Mark 1:1-15

When Jesus said at the beginning of his ministry to "Repent/change your thinking, and believe in the good news," what kind of thinking was he talking about? In considering the teaching that he provided throughout his ministry, and including the ministry of John the Baptizer, it is difficult not to conclude that it was his first-century Jewish audience's religious thinking that had to change. And change it he did, especially when the proclamation of his resurrection began to circulate!

But here's a thought: if Jesus was to appear to today and had twenty-first century North American Christians as his audience, what in our religious thinking ought to change? This is probably an uncomfortable question, but one that is certainly appropriate to ask . . .
