LENT 4 - Isaiah 30:18-21; John 14:1-17

John 14 has been long held as both a promise for what comes in the life after this one, and for what followers of Jesus could be able to do. But this view misses the real emphasis John's account of Jesus is making here. The intimate connectedness Jesus has with the Father is the point here, and those who follow the Way of Jesus share that same intimate connectedness. When we realize that this is so, we, too, can say with Christ Jesus, "I am in the Father and the Father is in me."
