John 3 contains what is probably the most famous verse in the Bible - John 3:16. However, since no verse actually stands alone, an exploration of the context in which it appears is very important. When we do this with John chapter 3, we encounter a rather challenging number of verses that follow this famous verse. But how we understand verses 18-21 is connected with how we understand what's going on in verses 1-15 . . . and in light of what we've been saying about the Gospel of John, this sermon gets to a conclusion that might not be what was expected . . .
