PENTECOST 15 - Song of Solomon 2:8-13; Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23

The book entitled the Song of Solomon (or Song of Songs) in the Bible is often held up as a guide to the romance and courtship that leads to marriage. While the book certainly does do that, it does so in the midst of a social context in Israel that treats marriage much differently than we do today. In this sermon, Rev Derwyn explores the development and practice of marriage displayed in the Bible and compares it with the tradition of marriage we have today . . . and challenges us to consider what in our tradition needs to change still.
