Doing theology in relationship means drawing in the thoughts and experiences of others into our understanding of God. When we open ourselves up to this, our theology broadens in a way that would not happen if we were left up to ourselves or others who think just like we do. And when we do this, we'll find ourselves better fulfilling the dual command to love God and to love others, because we're actually seeking the input from others to fill out our understanding of God. Pride Sunday is a way to demonstrate that we're tracking with this and that we are granting the experiences and stories of our LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters to show us something about God that we cis-gendered and straight people might otherwise have a hard time seeing on our own . . .
