It can be argued that King Josiah was the first messiah. His actions of reform in the southern kingdom of Judah decades after Isaiah, Micah, and Hosea began to make their messianic prophecies showed that he exhibiting those qualities. Unfortunately, Judah was still lost to Babylon four kings later.

We, too, are called to exhibit the qualities Josiah displayed. This is not to say that any of us are to consider ourselves "the Messiah," but as Jesus is known as such, we are to catch his vision and display in our lives the quality of life that the reign of Christ is characterized by. To do this, however, we must be careful not to mistake the things meant to help us grow as the most important things...
