Last week's sermon emphasized that the love of God is shown to us in spite of our darkness. In this sermon, expanding the idea of darkness to include not only the things inside us that we know are not good but also the negative circumstances in which we find ourselves, Rev Derwyn looks at how both Isaiah and the Gospel of Luke reveal the love of God being shown to us in our darkness. Here's a hint: the passage where God says "my ways are not your ways and my thoughts are not your thoughts" is not referring to how God operates in terms of directing our lives, but in how God loves us with the steadfast love repeatedly spoken of in the scriptures.
